Text message program details

SMS Terms & Privacy Policy

This page describes the text messaging program run from Emily & James's wedding website at https://emilyandjameswedding.online/ -- who sends messages, what they say, and exactly how a guest opts in or out. It's here so anyone can review the program without needing to look up an invitation first.

About this program

Emily & James are messaging their own invited wedding guests directly. This is a personal wedding, not a business, and no one besides Emily and James ever sends these messages or sees a guest's consent choice. Two kinds of messages go out: a one-time invitation link to guests who haven't yet visited the site, and RSVP-reminder or guest-update texts to guests who have separately opted in after sharing their contact details. Questions about either can be sent to Emily or James directly, the same way you'd normally reach them.

How a guest opts in

  1. A guest visits the contact form and enters their first initial and last name.
  2. Once matched to their invitation, the form shows one address field set for their household, including an optional phone number field.
  3. Directly next to that phone field, the guest sees this exact, unchecked checkbox -- reproduced here so it can be reviewed without an invitation:

Unchecked by default, exactly as shown. Checking it is entirely optional: it's never required to submit the form, share a mailing address, or fill in the phone field.

This is a reference example. Checking the box on this page does not enroll you in text messages.

A guest can submit the form with the box unchecked, submit it with no phone number at all, or check the box to opt in. Consent is recorded only from that checkbox and is never inferred from any other action, such as providing a phone number alone.

SMS Terms

  • Two message types: a one-time invitation-link text (sent to guests who haven't yet visited the site) and RSVP-reminder / guest-update texts (sent only to guests who checked the opt-in box above).
  • Message frequency varies -- typically a handful of messages total around the wedding, never a recurring subscription.
  • Msg & data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Supported for US mobile carriers only.

SMS Privacy

Phone numbers and SMS consent are collected only from invited guests and used only to send wedding RSVP reminders and guest updates. No mobile information, including phone numbers or SMS consent, is shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes, under any circumstance. Whether a guest opts in or out never changes whether their invitation, mailing address, or RSVP is accepted.
